Evolution, the GNOME desktop email client is now available on Microsoft Windows from now on. So Evolution lover can now use their beloved email client on Windows instead of substitute it with Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird.
The installer can be downloaded from itssourceforge.net project page and the download size is about 48MB. Like gaim and xchat under Windows, evolution depends heavily on GTK+ library and the application itself has a distinguish GNOME look on your desktop.
Users who are not used to Evolution on GNOME desktop might complaint about how Evolution “stands out” from other Windows application, not to mention about GTK+ quirks under Windows (the stubborn tooltips phenomenon).
All in all, it’s nice to have Evolution ported to Windows Desktop as users now have more choices of email clients, giving diversity. That’s the beauty of free software.

I tried this on Vista, immediately decided it wasn’t very interesting. What WAS interesting was uninstalling it with Revo – over 4,000 (four THOUSAND)registry entries and over 19,000 (nineteen THOUSAND) leftover files. Then, UniBlue Registry Booster found a further 1,000+ registry errors associated with the program. Even Adobe isn’t that obnoxious.

I work with XP but when I try to connect with the server, I got the message ‘Could not connect with Server. Check the URL en try again’ The URL is surely good. What can be the problem?
it don’t works on vista but it’s usefull for exenge servers
Evolution works fine on my Ubuntu laptop but not on my Windows laptop. With the Windows version, I can not synchronize with an Microsoft Exchange Webmail. With the Linux version this is not a problem at all.
The project ID has been recycled and now your link is pointing to the wrong project.
That may be. Except Thunderbird is more of a replacement for Outlook Express while Evolution is a replacement for Outlook since it supports calendaring, tasks, etc…
Worth trying, but I believed most Windows users prefer Thunderbird nowadays.
