Firefox 3.0 too slow for my desktop pc or is it just me?

This is the first day that I have the mood to blog since Eidul Fitr (Hari Raya).

What really caught my attention since the last few days I was away-from-keyboard is the startup time of Mozilla Firefox 3.0 browser on my 7 years old pc (Pentium 4 1.8 GHz) running Ubuntu 7.10, it was noticeably slow, giving me the impression it’s bloated. Was it only me? or does anybody else notice it too?

Currently I use Epiphany to write this post…

The Latest buzz: Google Chrome

Looks like I’m the last person to write about Chrome, the latest browser from Google. This is because I do not own a Microsoft Windows machine to test Chrome early on.

I’m sure you can find a lot of great reviews floating around the internet about the latest lightweight browser, so I will not waste your time by rehashing those information here.

Google Chrome
Chrome Application Shortcut

What actually caught my attention is the “Create Application Shortcut” found in Chrome, a functionality similar to Mozilla Prism which I’ve reviewed a while back in my blog. This would enable users to create Desktop shortcuts of their favorite Web Application without relying to external application like Prism anymore, everything can be done neatly within a single interface.

With Chrome, Javascript execution (read: ajax’ed website) felt a lot more faster while using much less memory, it looks like this new browser is going to give Mozilla a run for its money.

p/s: Eagerly waiting for Chrome to be available on GNU/Linux platforms.

Subscribed to Linux Hater’s Blog : Funny and hillarious blog

After discovering Linux Hater’s blog from Google Reader and Technorati, I decided to subscribe it as it was a funny and hillarious blog. It make fun of people who are using Linux for the wrong reasons (such as trying to act cool) and how some things in Linux are not better than any other operating system.

Linux Tux Logo

Other than that, it contains criticism of the Linux community in general, mainly directed towards fanboys and developers, although one can easily surmise that the author himself is a Linux user who has experience in writing applications, and presumably using a Debian-derived Linux distro.

Well I might be wrong, but Linux Haters Blog is a must read if you are a Linux user yourself because it offer insights of the overall of how GNU/Linux operating system compare to other OS and what would make Linux a better OS
