OpenDocument is now ISO approved!

This may be already a stale news, but I’ll post it anyway. OpenDocument recently was approved as international standard (ISO/IEC 26300), hooray. For you information, OpenDocument is an open document file format for saving and exchanging editable office documents such as text documents (including memos, reports, and books), spreadsheets, databases, charts, and presentations.

The OpenDocument format is intended to provide an open alternative to proprietary document formats including the popular but undocumented DOC, XLS, and PPT formats used by Microsoft Office, as well as Microsoft Office Open XML format.

In a nutshell, everybody is free to implement OpenDocument (ODF) support, and users will not be locked out by a single vendor as in case with proprietary office format like Microsoft Office and Lotus SmartSuite.

Currently the most popular applications that support OpenDocument is < a href="http://openoffice.org">OpenOffice (supported on a number of operating systems), Abiword and KOffice.

Get Malaysian TV Listing Guide in RSS

Hello there, I’m just testing my skills on php, and suddenly I came out with an idea to create a simple website that allows you to view Malaysian TV Programme Listing at http://tv.mypapit.net. It’s kinda a simple and stupid website actually, but it allows you to subscribe the tv listing using any generic RSS reader for your convenience.

So don’t forget about the URL, it’s http://tv.mypapit.net. lol, I know, it’s a shameless promotion.

How to Start a Business / Panduan Memulakan Perniagaan

Ever wonder how to register a small business in Malaysia? This e-book might give you some idea on that, including how to fill in the required form (Borang P.N.A 1, etc) and the fees, what you supposed to do after you formed a company. The only catch is, it is written in Malay.

Download : Panduan Memulakan Perniagaan

p/s: I found the guide in some free hosting website a while ago (i think it’s angelfire) and it seems to be abandoned, so I recompile it in PDF format in hopes it will be useful to others. Note that I’m not the writer of the book :p

Technorati started to update my blog again!

If you don’t already know, my blog suffered from the “technorati mood swings”, where it states that my blog hasn’t been updated for more than 50days. It seems that I’m not the only onewho has this problem.

Until now, I don’t know what happened and what to do as technorati won’t update my blogs, though i’ve ping them each time I write new post. But last night, I was hit by a pleasant suprise, my blog was updated by technorati 7 days ago, and all my post within that 50days period is included in technorati.

God knows what happened behind the technorati engine, but I wrote this as a reference to other bloggers. Do not give up if technorati stopped updating your blog, they might just have a minor hiccups. Your blogs will be updated by them eventually.

ICCL comic is back online!

After a long hiatus, my favorite online comic (written by apz) is back online! It came back online somewhere around February 2006, I just realise it today!

ICCL is geeky comic about computer technician, and it’s story focuses around Simon Freeman and Deirdre. I like ICCL because I feel like the character Simon close to myself as both of us prefered to be slackers (I mean, voluntarily unemployed). It’s an entertaining comic. Actually, the comic inspires me to switch to Debian GNU/Linux after I fail to use Fedora Core “properly”.

New readers should start reading from Chapter 1/Genesis

Some of my searches interrupted by Google Server Error on April 17

Well, ain’t this just cute. My searches was interrupted by Google Server error 502 around 6:15pm MYT (that’s 10:15pm GMT). No real damage was done, I just have to switch my search engine to Yahoo for my research.

p/s : Compared to Google.com dns failure last year that leads unsuspecting people worldwide to a domain parking service, this incident was minor to me, it is just the case of switching engine.
