Note that most of these free blog hosting services offer WordPress-mu version, which uses a different template engine than the mainstream WordPress. Other features and plugins are compatible with the normal WordPress however.

Does anyone know of a good free web host that works well with WordPress 2.0? i don’t mean one of the ones listed above, where you already get it like on wordpress.com. I was looking for a good free host that lets you upload the WordPress files from your computer with MySQL etc.

Of course, then you got to realise that WordPress.com uses the new WordPress 2.0 which makes you wonder when if ever the other WordPress Multi User blogs will upgrade to the new version as well.
