Mozilla Firefox GeoURL extension and tagging your website

firefox, mozilla firefox, geotag,geourl
I’ve forgotten that I’ve geotag my feeds and website months ago until yesterday when I came across this Mozilla Firefox extension.

What’s Geotagging?
The GeoURL provide service to geotag your website which helps people to find you geographically only by your web url. You can also find urls which are approximately close to your position. Here’s the list of websites “near” me :

How to add Geo Tag ?
Simply go to Adding yourself to GeoURL at the GeoURL website, and follow the instructions there. You have to know your longitude and latitudes in order to do this, which can be obtained through one of these websites. My personal favorite is Multimap, which i’ve already bookmarked for Malaysian users.

You can proceed to include this meta tags in between of your head tags of your website.

Finally, proceed to GeoURL ping form to tell them that your website has been geo-tagged.

GeoURL Mozilla Firefox extension
You can install this Mozilla Firefox extension, and a globe will appear on the status bar of your browser. The globe will light up when you came across a geo-tagged website. Clicking it will show it’s neighboring website, geographically.

The Mysterious Black Box (Misteri Kotak Hitam)

Adapting to the new environment in the house is quite a chore by itself, I’ve to tell myself to get use to everything, since most of my old stuff are being thrown away to make room for new furnitures.

It’s pretty cool once I got used to the new stuff and furnitures around me, new bed, new cupboard, new rack, etc. I’ve also put up a “black box” for my use in my room. I’ve assemble it from junk stuff that i found around the house and bought some switch to put it together, by soldering up some wires and glueing the cover together. Yeah, the good old Kemahiran Menipu Latif.

But I won’t tell you what it is for, not now at least. Can you guess what does this “black box” do?

Google Operating System With Its Own Low-Priced PC Product

operating system, google, windows, google.com

Google hit it again! This time, Google.com Inc. is making headlines by planning to offer a range of low-priced pc or other device that connects to the Internet.

It is rumored that the machine would run an operating system created by Google, not Microsoft’s Windows, which is one reason it would be so cheap ? perhaps as little as a couple of hundred dollars.

Whoa, a Google operating system? wonder how it would look like?

sphpblog – php blog scripts with text storage

blog, blogging, sphpblog, php, open source, free software, gnu/gpl

One of my friends is using sphpblog as his blogging platform which makes me curious to try it out myself.

Simple PHP Blog script is a simple blog application which only uses text files as its data storage. This in turn makes it one of the simplest php blog script to install, you just need to unpack it and you’re done (well you need to change some write permission).

sphpblog packs the most features for its size. It has (among others) :

  • Comments
  • Trackbacks
  • Post Category
  • Syndication feed (RSS 2.0, RSS 1.0, ATOM 0.3
  • Search feature
  • Article Rating
  • Article views counter
  • Contact Me page
  • Build in blog stats
  • Archives Calendar
  • and many more…!

sphpblog certainly has more than I could expect from a blogging platform, it’s simple requirements of using PHP version > 4.3.x (it supports PHP5 too) and a couple of write permissions makes it easy to install.

Finally, sphpblog is available for download here, under the terms of GNU General Public License version 2.0

It’s the last day of the year 2005

Today is the last day of 2005, looking back at the year, it seems that i’ve accomplished some of my objectives along the way. I wonder what 2006 will bring me?

Uh, to me new year only means that the months wraps back to January and I’ve to remember to change the year when I write dates lol. Nothing to do with motivations though, if you are only motivated to list out your objectives and resolution during a new year, then I guess that you are a bit silly though. A real motivated person create objectives and achieve them all the time. So don’t wait until new year, create mission objectives and work on them now.
