I’m here for Langkawi, not Kuala Lumpur!! Get your geography right!

While I’m on holiday in Pulau Langkawi, I’ve decided to take a cable car ride in gunung Mat Cincang, since I missed it the last time I went to Pulau Langkawi. They said that you can get a fine view of Langkawi from up there.

As I entered the Oriental Village, I was suprised by what I saw. What the heck with that signboard?

(Please scroll below for the picture)

I mean what the heck with Jalan Dang Wangi signboard (complete with postcode) doing in the middle of Pulau Langkawi? Am I in federal territory now? Is Malaysian govt is too ashamed to admit this tourist attraction is in Langkawi?

Who’s the wise guy that came out with this idea of putting misleading signboard anyway? For starters, this place doesn’t look like Jalan Dang Wangi in Kuala Lumpur at all! I don’t know about you, but if I’m a Langkawi resident, I’d surely be deeply insulted by now.

(The entrance that magically transports you to Jalan Dang Wangi, KL)

Before you argue with me that the signboard is cool, save it. It isn’t cool to a tourist. I know that first hand because I’m a tourist myself, it’s misleading and it shows that Langkawi does not deserve such place so that the management had to put a fake signboard to make people felt they are someplace else. What’s wrong by putting the right signboard? At least people will remember it in their *cough* *cough* photographs.

Langkawi is a nice place, shame that some people doesn’t want to label themselves as being Langkawians.

Holiday and Limited Updates

Sorry for the limited updates on my blog, actually I went for a holiday in Pulau Langkawi a couple of days ago, and I wasnt connected to the internet (that’s my idea of holiday). So there was no new post during that period.

The good news is, the weblog is back in pace now. Bet that you have already know about the blog’s new theme, I changed it because the previous one is too buggy to be usable. Ah yes, I’ve also changed the syndication feeds back to full now, to ensure the widest coverage of my updates.

p/s : I might post pics from my holiday at my website, so stay tune.

I’ve tried Mozilla Firefox 1.5 today (thanks to Acap!), it’s surely fast! Switching between tabs is almost instantly as well as “Back” and “Forward” actions. I haven’t f serious memory-leak yet, as the case of Mozilla Firefox 1.0.x series

Other notable improved :

  1. Supports some CSS3 elements
  2. Supports ATOM 1.0 feeds for Live BookMark
  3. Cool SVG supports

p/s : I just realised that Mozilla Firefox website has been moved to a new domain : http://mozilla.com :p

So why wait? get Mozilla Firefox now

Freebies Invitations That I Have

Whoa, seems I have a quite a few of freebies invitation to pass around right now, and they are :

Gmail
Gmail is a free, search-based webmail service that includes more than 2,500 megabytes (2.5 gigabytes) of storage. The backbone of Gmail is a powerful Google search engine that quickly finds any message an account owner has ever sent or received. That means there’s no need to file messages in order to find them again.

30Gigs Email
30Gigs.com started off with the idea of creating a “All in one” site for the webmaster and avid computer users. Combining personal file storage, GD2 signatures and anonymous email all in one service, which would be free. Our main goal is to increase our space even further, to 50 gigs, or maybe 100 as time goes on. 30Gigs.com is still in a very heavy beta, and if you are a member, please help us to make it the best mail server there is. We will be offering a section for personal file storage (up to 30 gigs) and a GD2 signature maker to keep your email safe from spam robots. We also offer a unique feature, which allows you to send a email from any address you want. This is very usefull if you have multiple accounts linked to your 30Gigs.com account, and want to send a email from john@otherservice.com so you dont confuse the sender. Any further information can be addressed to support@30gigs.com.

And finally,

MsjBox
MsjBox is one of the best shoutbox that I ever use personally, created by a fellow Malaysian, Mr Junaidi. Msjbox spots many functionalities that can’t be found in most of the shoutbox free services. Some of the most nifty features are :

  • IP logging/blocking
  • Color Customization
  • Easy Installation
  • Message Limit (flood control)
  • Popup replyfunction
  • Invitations
  • Auto-refresh
  • Extended Smilies
  • User Avatar
  • Multipage shoutbox functionality
  • Easy to use control panel
  • Easy to remember BBCode-like shortcuts

So please contact me if any of you folks want to be invited to use the services.
