I tried promotional code for a very very big hosting site for my next purchase.. (I will not name them because I am not doing negative marketing for them, but just sharing my experience) and to my surprise it did not work. They were offering me 10% discount on that code, but my shopping card would not update the amount to be paid even after I tried a couple of times.

Its hard to know which sites are offering real discounts and which ones are playing gimmicks.

Another place to find great deals online is Savings.com. Their technology and staff keep the site fresh and up-to-date with the latest Amazon coupons , along with coupons and deals from a ton of other online merchants. Check them out when you get a minute.
